As I grew up, my hatred of my hair did not dissipate. In 2002, I decided to search "curly hair" on Google, hoping to find a solution. The first result was the naturallycurly website, where I was thrilled to discover an entire community of fellow curly-haired people sharing the same struggles. I quickly made many "cyber friends" to trade hair tips and horror stories with.

One day, I came across a basic recipe for a hair gel made with flaxseed extract. I remember thinking, "Wow, how cool would it be if I could just make my OWN hair gel?" I tried the recipe, and the results were less than stellar. Undeterred, I started experimenting, adding other natural ingredients I had learned were good for curly hair. The results were nothing short of miraculous - my hair finally looked the way I wanted, and I had made the product on my stove!

Rockin' Ringlets Styling Potion - Jess' Way After leaving in my conditioner for about 5 minutes, I gently comb my hair with a wide-tooth comb to detangle and remove shed hairs. I then rinse upside down to encourage volume at the roots.

While my hair is still soaking wet, I mix a quarter-sized dollop of Too Shea and a puddle of Rockin' Ringlets in my palm, rub my hands together, and rake the mixture through my hair 4-5 times. I then scrunch about 5-6 times, followed by a puddle of Spiralicious Styling Gel. I finish by scrunching with a microfiber towel 7-8 times to soak out excess water and help the ringlets form.
